  • Notes: "Painting is not the simple representation of an object, but colour and light: the right relationship between the two determines its form in space. The subject is not perceived as such, but as an abstract element." – Luciano Ventrone Luciano Ventrone was born in Rome in 1942. He studied art at Rome's Liceo Artistico and started an architecture program in the mid-1960s, but left in 1968 to focus on painting. His first solo exhibition was in 1963 when he was 21 years old, and he has continued to show his work since then. Ventrone's signature style is defined by intense clarity, brilliant lighting, and meticulous representation. His attention to detail, a hallmark of his work, was developed during his early studies in anatomy. Ventrone's artistic process involved carefully staging his still lifes and f igures under strong artificial lighting. He photographed them and used the photographs to create his paintings. This technique illuminates details that are not normally visible and allows him to capture both the outer appearance and the inner nature of his subjects. Throughout his career, Ventrone explored the possibilities of sight and optics. His interest in the details of his subjects developed in the 1980s and led to his signature style. In addition to regular gallery and museum exhibitions, Ventrone also completed public projects, including a large-scale fresco for a court building in Cassino and portraits of Italian Presidents for the Senate building. He has been highly exhibited before and since his death in 2021.
