Nine paintings by Gari Melchers are highlighted in the current traveling exhibition “Dutch Utopia: American Artists in Holland, 1880-1914”, (pls. 37 – 45), organized by the Telfair Museum of Art, Savannah, Georgia in association with the Singer Laren Museum, The Netherlands.

“Motherhood” is most likely a study for
“The Family”, c. 1895 owned by Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (National Gallery), Berlin, Germany.
